Despite the fact that I couldn't find any articles about parent's concerns about exchange student programs, there is many pages that help hosting parents with taking care of an exchange students. Even thought it doesn't really help with my question, it can point out exactly of what are those hosting parents afraid of and what can be the main concerns of parents of an exchange student as well.

As in my case of an exchange student my host family had no idea as far as my health insurance policy or what to do when sick, or many important thing that concerned my parents the most. I would like to include that in my paper as well.

Controversy article by nbc news about foreign exchange student being abused.
Another question that arises, considering these negative aspects is shall a parent feel safe sending their child oversees?
How can parents make sure their child is safe?

Benefits of Student Exchange

Student exchange offers broad based benefits and outcomes for students keen to embark on this international adventure.
Most of these are intertwined and come together to constitute the overarching exchange experience.

Educational

  • International learning and knowledge propels students towards acceptance and understanding of an array of different cultural and community perspectives.
  • Language acquisition is achieved through practical immersion.
  • Awareness and adoption of alternative, multi-faceted approaches to learning.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Enhanced interest in global issues as well as a broader general knowledge.

Personal

  • Self-development and awareness leading to enhanced self-confidence and self-esteem. This is often the most noticeable change in returned exchange students.
  • Maturity and social poise, fuelled by the necessity to confront challenges outside a familiar support network and comfort zone.
  • Integration into another family as well as the development of life-long friendships, fostering an appreciation of home and family.
  • A tremendous sense of accomplishment upon completion encourages students to develop independent opinions, make informed decisions and strive to attain fresh goals.

Long-Term

  • Students who go on to tertiary studies find themselves more comfortable in ‘foreign’ environments.
  • Prospective employers in almost every field look favourably upon experience gained while living overseas and knowledge obtained of another language and culture.
  • Increased pressure to communicate and relate to others develops an awareness of group dynamics and personal sensitivity towards others.
  • Successful program completion represents an excellent measure of personal flexibility, encompassing an ability to reach compromise, focus and succeed through challenging times.

regarding this Australian website, these are the benefits of exchange student programs I would like to concentrate on the most, and give specific examples of each point mentioned in this article. However as I said I also want to mention all negative things possible that could arise and do arise with single one of these positive things.

How to give this research a so what?
Thinking about how to approach audience thru this paper and make a statement that would be memorable about exchange programs is to probably narrow my audience to students who want to be and exchange students or a considering it and my research paper would be helpful for them and help them  decide.
this link right here is a forum future of current exchange students where they can get to know first hand stories, however those stories are mostly positive and do not exactly describe the reality of exchange student program.

I am going to try to introduce all problems possible that arise during exchange student programs, support these claims with research, however not try to discourage anyone from becoming n exchange student.
